London 1961: routes, timers and phone chains
Prepare for the demanding PC mission pack with a useful route-first approach.
Start with a street map
London 1961 uses the London setting but asks you to follow different sequences from 1969. Its single chapter is When We Were Very Small. The four opening phones stand in Southwest City, west of the starting area, and are counted from left to right. First explore connections between City, Westminster and the southern districts. Learn the bridges before a countdown begins. Keep a practical map beside the game and identify which street actually reaches a garage entrance; a straight bearing towards the arrow does little to solve a sealed city block.
Save time at transitions
Many difficult moments occur between objectives. Park before a conversation facing your next likely departure, so you can leave without turning around. Read the complete instruction and distinguish a supplied mission car from a requested vehicle type or any fast car. Phone 1 requires you to leave your vehicle and plant explosives at doors. Phone 2 continues beyond its first taxi ride into a rescue, a bomb delivery and another passenger pickup. Write those changes as a short checklist before another attempt. That removes the need to reconstruct the whole assignment while its next timer is already running.
Learn something from each failure
Death and arrest fail an active assignment. Plan a fresh chapter run when you want another attempt at a lost phone chain instead of assuming a modern instant mission-restart feature. Practise the failed connection beforehand, then change one specific thing: an earlier turn, a straighter parking approach or a more controllable car. Always trust the countdown displayed by your edition; these walkthroughs do not invent extra time allowances. The accompanying coverage consists of two selected phone chains, not a complete campaign solution. Console controls and emulator save states are not features of the original PC mission system.
