Are official GTA 6 minimum PC requirements available?
Checked on 8 November 2026. The Rockstar sources reviewed do not list PC system requirements or a PC release date. They list PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. A possible later PC edition is not a confirmed release. A finished minimum-spec table promising a particular frame rate today is not a Rockstar-confirmed specification.

What a useful minimum specification would mean
A meaningful minimum needs a performance target: for example, 1920 × 1080 output, low settings and a stated frame rate. It also needs to say whether rendering is native or upscaled. Otherwise, “runs” might mean anything from reaching a menu to driving smoothly through a busy city. We do not present our own choice of components as Rockstar’s eventual minimum.
An unconfirmed entry-level planning example
This is our editorial example of a current gaming PC with some headroom. It is neither a leaked specification nor a tested GTA 6 configuration. We would eventually investigate 1080p at reduced settings; whether even 30 FPS would be achievable is unknown. We deliberately do not claim a precise hardware floor. AMD specifies six cores and twelve threads for the Ryzen 5 7600, while NVIDIA offers 8 GB and 16 GB RTX 5060 Ti models. Choosing the 16 GB version here provides planning headroom, not compliance with a known GTA 6 requirement.
| Component | Editorial example – not minimum requirements |
|---|---|
| CPU | AMD Ryzen 5 7600, 6 cores / 12 threads |
| GPU | GeForce RTX 5060 Ti, specifically the 16 GB version |
| System memory | 32 GB DDR5 as headroom for a new build |
| Storage | 1 TB NVMe SSD as the overall drive, not the game size |
| Operating system | Windows 11 64-bit as a planning choice, not a GTA 6 requirement |
| Achievable GTA 6 performance | Unknown; no guarantee of compatibility, settings or FPS |
Will 16 GB RAM or 8 GB VRAM be enough?
There is no confirmed answer for GTA VI on PC. RAM is system memory; VRAM is memory local to the graphics card. More VRAM does not automatically make a slower GPU faster. Our 32 GB RAM and 16 GB VRAM choices leave room in an already planned new build, but prove no future compatibility. An existing PC with less memory is not automatically ruled out either. Radeon and Intel graphics cards are not unsuitable simply because of their brand: supported features, actual testing and price will determine useful alternatives.
How much SSD space should you reserve?
Rockstar states that the console installation requires up to 212 GB of free space, depending on the device. The support question explicitly concerns consoles. This does not establish a PC download size or an SSD requirement. The 1 TB drive in our example is capacity for Windows, applications and games together. Before a real PC installation, the published PC figure, space for updates and the free capacity on the selected drive would matter.
Check the PC you already own
Record your existing hardware before replacing components speculatively. These Windows steps read system information; they do not require a GTA 6 checker or an unfamiliar download.
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager, then select Performance. Record the exact CPU model and installed RAM.
- Select GPU and record its model and dedicated GPU memory. Shared system memory is not an equivalent replacement for local VRAM.
- Check whether the disk is identified as an SSD or HDD. Also check available space on the intended drive in File Explorer.
- For a laptop, record the complete device model. Do not assume a laptop GPU performs like a similarly named desktop graphics card.
- Record your monitor resolution and desired frame rate. Compare the results with eventual official PC requirements and suitable tests.
Should you upgrade already?
Our editorial recommendation is to avoid buying an entire PC solely for an unconfirmed GTA 6 performance target. If you need a computer for other reasons, choose around games available today, your budget and your monitor. A CPU upgrade also requires checking socket, BIOS and memory compatibility; a graphics card needs suitable power and case clearance. Windows 11 compatibility is a separate check, not proof that GTA VI will run. Microsoft specifies requirements including TPM 2.0 and a supported processor.
How to recognise reliable requirements later
Look for an official PC announcement, a verifiable store listing and a specification with resolution, preset and frame-rate targets. Subsequent tests need to examine busy traffic, extended driving and demanding scenes. GTA V results, console trailers and speculative compatibility checkers are not GTA VI PC benchmarks. For higher quality targets, our companion guide covers Ultra settings and 4K hardware planning. Both articles display the date on which their sources were checked.
Official Rockstar pages and hardware-vendor specifications checked on 8 November 2026. Vendor sources establish component specifications, not GTA VI compatibility. Every configuration and performance target is an editorial planning example; no original GTA VI PC benchmarks are presented.
Recommendations and interpretation are editorial. Information may change after the date shown above.
