GTA 6 PC: Ultra settings & 4K hardware forecast
What hardware might suit maximum detail? Unconfirmed 1440p and 4K profiles, CPU and VRAM planning, and the limits of FPS predictions.

Can we already specify hardware for maximum settings?
Not reliably. Checked on 8 November 2026, the official sources reviewed do not provide a PC edition with system requirements or a PC graphics menu. There is therefore no confirmed Ultra preset, list of PC ray-tracing options or PC benchmark on which to base a definitive build. The components below are editorial test candidates for a possible future version. Even an RTX 5090 is not a guarantee of native 4K at 60 FPS with every setting maximised.
Define what “maximum” means first
High settings at 1440p are a different target from native 4K with maximum lighting effects. “Ultra” alone omits output resolution, rendering method and the intended experience. In our profiles, a test target is something to measure later, not an expected or achieved frame rate. A 4K output reconstructed from a lower internal resolution must not be labelled native 4K.
| Output resolution | Pixels per frame | Compared with 1080p |
|---|---|---|
| 1920 × 1080 | 2.07 million | 1× |
| 2560 × 1440 | 3.69 million | about 1.78× |
| 3840 × 2160 | 8.29 million | 4× |
Three hardware profiles: unconfirmed planning, not FPS promises
We would investigate these classes separately in eventual PC testing. For every profile, achieving the target and the need to reduce settings remain unknown. NVIDIA’s product pages confirm the memory capacities listed here, not GTA VI performance. Other manufacturers may also offer suitable alternatives. Matching cards solely by VRAM capacity would not establish equivalent performance.
| Future test target, not a result | Example GPU | What remains unknown |
|---|---|---|
| 1440p, high to maximum settings, 60 FPS target | RTX 5070 Ti · 16 GB | Preset, rendering resolution and achievable frame rate |
| 4K output, high to maximum settings, 60 FPS target | RTX 5080 · 16 GB | Native or upscaled rendering; lighting and headroom |
| Native 4K, maximum available effects, 60 FPS target | RTX 5090 · 32 GB | Whether the target is achievable even with this GPU |
CPU, RAM and SSD for a possible high-end PC
Our concrete planning example uses a Ryzen 7 9800X3D with eight cores and sixteen threads, 32 GB DDR5 and a 2 TB NVMe SSD. This is not a Rockstar-confirmed recommendation. A 64 GB memory configuration may help other concurrent workloads, but is not an established GTA 6 need and promises no extra FPS here. SSD capacity means the whole drive. The confirmed console storage figure must not be relabelled as a PC installation size.
| Component | Editorial high-end example |
|---|---|
| CPU | Ryzen 7 9800X3D or an alternative selected using real tests later |
| RAM | 32 GB DDR5; 64 GB only for additional workloads |
| SSD | 2 TB NVMe overall capacity, not the installation size |
| GPU | Match the future test profile selected above |
| Operating system | Windows 11 64-bit as a planning choice; official PC requirement unknown |
Ray tracing, path tracing, DLSS and FSR: what is confirmed?
We cannot derive a confirmed list of those PC options from the sources reviewed. A graphics card supporting ray tracing or DLSS does not establish that GTA VI supports that feature. Path tracing is also not another name for every form of ray tracing. If such options appear, maximum lighting, textures and conventional detail settings need separate testing. An Ultra preset can have a different scope from switching every available option to its maximum. For features such as FSR, the distinction between a general technology and confirmed support in this particular game is the same.
Generated frames and rendered FPS are different measurements
Upscaling reconstructs a higher-resolution output from a lower-resolution image. Frame generation adds intermediate images. Both can change the output, but neither replaces stable simulation and input processing. An eventual test should report the base frame rate without generated frames separately from the output with frame generation. It should also identify the upscaling mode and internal rendering resolution. A high displayed FPS figure alone does not tell you how responsive driving or aiming feels.
Include power, cooling and case clearance
NVIDIA lists 1000 watts of required system power for its RTX 5090 reference configuration and notes that the overall system affects the requirement. This is a hardware-vendor specification, not a GTA 6 requirement or a universal PSU prescription. Check the specific card’s guidance, the appropriate power connector and the PSU manufacturer’s instructions. Card dimensions, cooler clearance and case ventilation must also be suitable. In an existing PC, the GPU purchase price is only one part of assessing an upgrade.
How we would benchmark a PC edition later
A reliable Ultra guide requires a released PC edition. Only then can the following procedure be carried out. No original GTA VI PC measurements are presented here.
- Record game and driver versions, CPU, memory, GPU and the full rendering configuration.
- Choose a repeatable drive with comparable time, weather and traffic conditions. Measure multiple runs instead of relying on one screenshot.
- Assess average FPS, slow frame times or 1% lows, and visible streaming stutter together.
- Measure native rendering first; add upscaling and frame generation separately and label them clearly.
- Change textures, shadows, draw distance and, if available, ray tracing individually. Repeat the same route after each change.
- Observe graphics-memory use and temperatures. Do not extrapolate performance across the whole game from one quiet scene.
Our buying decision today
We would not buy hardware today on the promise of guaranteed maximum settings in GTA VI. If you want a high-end PC for other reasons, these profiles can structure questions for a retailer. The actual selection should follow current games and properly checked components. Waiting for a possible PC announcement and subsequent benchmarks avoids an expensive purchase based solely on a forecast. Our companion PC guide explains the status of minimum requirements and how to record the hardware you already own.
Rockstar information and AMD/NVIDIA specifications checked on 8 November 2026. The listed models and memory capacities exist, but their GTA VI performance is unknown. Ultra options, PC upscaling support and frame generation are not presented as confirmed.
