Starting conditions and the recommended tutorial route
Yu Jian begins with a new game and requires neither weapons nor an earlier assignment. After the ambush, Huang is trapped in a sinking car; escaping is the immediate objective. You do not recover the stolen sword during this mission. The recommended route then takes you from the jetty to Kenny’s restaurant and the first apartment in Cerveza Heights. The nearby marked car makes this introduction straightforward, but it is not a unique mandatory mission vehicle. Another car can take you to Kenny too. Follow the on-screen sequence for your first attempt.
From the rear window to a running engine
Underwater, the interaction concerns the rear window. Driving controls or the ordinary exit-vehicle action do not replace it. After breaking free, you do not need to search for the submerged car or your attackers.
- Work on the indicated rear window until the glass breaks and Huang escapes. On Nintendo DS, repeatedly tap the window on the lower touchscreen. The PSP strategy guide specifies repeated presses of L or R. On mobile, follow the displayed touch interaction.
- Swim toward the yellow objective at the jetty. Aim for its low exit point rather than the vertical harbour wall beside it. Once Huang climbs onto the wooden walkway and finishes his short comment, the route continues on land.
- Walk along the jetty and up the ramp to the blue vehicle blip. The overhead arrow identifies the tutorial car. DS uses X to enter; PSP uses Triangle. On mobile, use the vehicle-entry action shown by your interface.
- Complete the ignition interaction before driving. DS has you drag the screwdriver into the lock and turn it according to the arrows. PSP uses X to insert it, followed by the analog stick in the displayed directions. Wait for the engine to start before accelerating.
Reaching the restaurant and apartment
The next yellow marker identifies your destination. Blue highlighted the nearby car in this sequence; do not treat that distinction as an inflexible rule for every later assignment.
- Drive through the barrier at the harbour exit. The route is ahead through the access road, rather than back toward the water. Join the streets and follow the yellow GPS line.
- Brake before junctions and check the next turn on the radar. DS uses B to accelerate and Y to brake or reverse; PSP uses X and Square. This introductory drive does not require constant full throttle or handbrake turns.
- Stop at Kenny’s restaurant, leave the car and walk into the yellow entrance chevrons. The meeting is triggered on foot. Parking neatly beside the building is not a substitute for entering the marked doorway.
- After the conversation, follow the new objective to the nearby Cerveza Heights apartment. Its green house icon helps identify the location. Enter the required doorway and let the safehouse introduction finish.
- After the mission completes, save your progress at the apartment and read important PDA mail. Kenny’s next invitation and his K marker lead to the following assignment; neither requires another search of the waterfront.
What this opening is teaching you
The GPS line provides guidance along legal street connections. Completing the route does not depend on tracing every bend precisely: reaching the current objective is what matters. Nevertheless, following it is a useful beginner choice because you can concentrate on steering. If you miss a junction, correct your route at a suitable opening instead of spinning across traffic and kerbs. A controlled recovery costs less attention than turning one wrong turn into several collisions. The normal introduction contains no street battle you must win and no required police chase to finish. Creating your own wanted level does not move the story forward.
Troubleshooting
First identify the unfinished action. A doorway trigger, a stalled ignition sequence and an incorrect input each need a different correction.
| Problem | Check | Useful correction |
|---|---|---|
| Huang remains inside the sinking car. | You tried ordinary vehicle exit instead of the window interaction. | Work on the rear window using the displayed action. |
| You reach the waterfront but cannot climb out. | You approached a high quay rather than the low jetty exit. | Swim to the yellow objective on the wooden jetty. |
| The car will not move after you enter. | The ignition mini-game has not been completed successfully. | Insert the tool, follow its arrows and wait for the engine. |
| Nothing happens outside the restaurant. | Huang is still driving or standing beside the entrance trigger. | Get out and walk through the yellow entrance chevrons. |
| You cannot find the next conversation with Kenny. | The apartment introduction or an important message is still pending. | Complete the apartment objective, then check PDA mail and K. |
Keep DS, PSP and mobile inputs separate
On DS, the interaction surface and radar occupy the lower screen while the action continues above. PSP places these functions on one screen and replaces gestures with buttons or analog-stick movements. Its two interactions described here are distinct: a shoulder button breaks the window, while X and the stick operate the ignition. A general list of L/R inputs therefore does not solve every mini-game. iOS and Android have their own touch areas and configurable driving controls. Supported physical controllers can change the symbols displayed. On mobile, choose a comfortable driving layout before longer trips rather than looking for DS button labels on your screen.
FAQ: Vehicle choice, saving and the next mission
Must you keep the marked car? No. It is the readily identifiable tutorial option; Kenny and then the apartment remain the destinations. Do you need a specific number of taps or a universal ignition time? This route does not rely on either. Continue the required interaction until its successful result appears. Can you save underwater? The first regular saving opportunity comes after the apartment introduction, outside the active assignment. What happens next? Read the important message and visit Kenny’s available K marker. Replaying or starting a new game is separate from progressing through the story normally; this guide does not promise an arbitrary checkpoint during the underwater interaction.
