Which assignment is this?
Begin in London 1969’s opening chapter, “Boys Will Be Thieves”. The introduction combines a phone job for the Crisp twins’ contact with the subsequent meeting with Harold Cartwright. You do not need weapons or a particular score to finish this short opening. The marked Mod Scooter and the correct garage entrance are what matter. An ordinary motorcycle stolen from traffic does not replace the mission vehicle. A separate encounter follows the delivery, so do not end the session as soon as the handover is acknowledged.
Find Soho despite the Mile End dialogue
Both historical PlayStation walkthroughs place the delivery garage in Southeast Soho. The documented PC dialogue instead names Southeast Mile End. Follow the actual Soho destination when those instructions conflict. The garage has a roller door, and Harold’s meeting point is in the adjoining alley afterwards. The yellow mission arrow indicates the general direction of the current objective, rather than a driveable street route. If a wall separates you from the arrow, find the approach around the block instead of driving into the building. Distinguish the district, the building and its accessible entrance.
Step-by-step route from call to chapter ending
Complete the short stages in order and check the objective after each change of vehicle.
- Go to the ringing mission phonebox in Northeast Chelsea. Leave your approach vehicle and walk to the phone to accept the job.
- Read the instruction identifying the Mod Scooter in Central Chelsea. Travel there using an available vehicle and park without trapping the parked scooter.
- Mount the marked Mod Scooter. Check the displayed vehicle name and the delivery objective before dismounting again or searching for another motorcycle.
- Follow the streets to Southeast Soho. Use the mission arrow for broad orientation and find an accessible approach rather than diverting to the wrong district because of the spoken Mile End reference.
- Slow down before the garage. Line the scooter up with the roller door and make sure the opening is clear before riding into it.
- Take the Mod Scooter through the open door. Wait for the confirmed handover and the new instruction about Harold; stopping immediately outside is insufficient.
- After the delivery, walk to the alley directly beside the garage building. Look for Harold or the new encounter position there instead of driving across London again.
- Approach Harold on foot and allow the meeting to finish. This completes the introductory chapter and enables the transition to “Mods and Sods”.
Preserve the scooter and the meeting
The Mod Scooter is slow and handles differently from your approach car. Brake before junctions and take a wider arc when traffic blocks the inside line. A missed turning can be corrected; destroying the required vehicle prevents its delivery. Avoid extra shots or collisions at the garage. Harold is your next conversation target, rather than an opponent. If a vehicle obstructs the alley, move it or walk around it. Creating an unnecessary police encounter adds no advantage to this delivery. A controlled approach is particularly valuable at the final doorway.
Diagnose a stalled attempt
The common problems are a wrong location or a progression trigger that has not yet occurred.
| Problem | Check the cause | Correction |
|---|---|---|
| No suitable garage appears in Mile End. | The dialogue name was followed instead of the actual objective. | Reorient towards the delivery garage in Southeast Soho. |
| The handover does not register. | Wrong scooter or stopped outside the doorway. | Ride the marked Mod Scooter through the open roller door. |
| The arrow seems to point through a wall. | A direction indicator was mistaken for a direct approach. | Go around the block and locate the accessible entrance. |
| Delivery is complete but the chapter continues. | Harold’s encounter has not happened. | Enter the adjoining alley and approach Harold on foot. |
Retrying and preserving progress
Another complete attempt at this opening begins with the chapter. The garage is not a safehouse that creates a freely reloadable state immediately before Harold. London 1969 preserves profile, unlocked-chapter and high-score progress rather than a modern mission checkpoint. The PlayStation manual places Memory Card saving on the character-selection screen. On PC, the profile/chapter state is the basis for new runs. An emulator snapshot is an additional emulator feature. After an interruption, check the active arrow and last instruction before discarding a job that may still be running.
Questions and edition limits
Must you return to Chelsea after delivery? Harold waits beside the Soho garage. Is this a scooter assignment from “London 1961”? No: the route specifically covers the London 1969 opening. PC and PlayStation bindings and some dialogue differ. Check entering, exiting and braking before setting off. Repeating the last message through the PC manual’s message function repeats its wording; it does not repair the incorrect Mile End district name.
