Unlock conditions and preparation
Complete “Hot Wheels” and JD O’Toole’s “The Made Man” before Vincenzo’s return. Following the relevant call, visit his V marker at the Atlantic Quays warehouse again. The assignment then redirects you to the large freighter at the docks. This is a later Portland mission, rather than an immediate continuation of “Snuff”. Save at your hideout beforehand and start with full health. A shotgun with sufficient ammunition helps; alternatively, use the powerful revolver available aboard the ship. Fighting running chainsaw attackers in melee creates unnecessary risk.
Find the freighter and collect supplies
From Vincenzo’s warehouse area, use the paved quayside to reach the marked ship. Follow its objective marker and deck access rather than searching fenced areas inside the port. Side corridors branch from the descent: check the second corridor on the right while heading down for the revolver pickup. Contemporary guides call it the Python or .357. Armour is also available around the lower stairs. Collect these supplies before entering the hold and triggering the door to close behind Toni. Once the ambush starts, you cannot simply visit the nearest gun shop for a better loadout.
Preserve movement rather than a permanent firing position
The hold switches to a fixed, elevated camera, changing how you read the room. Find a clear route between its ends and use crates to make pursuers go around obstacles. A position that looks safe can become a dead end when another attacker arrives. Enemies continue to appear; the first visible group is not the entire fight. Do not remain stationary to work through an unreliable head count. The transition to Vincenzo’s scene is the meaningful progress signal. Health pickups at the room’s ends provide a reserve, not a reason to run directly through a crowd of chainsaws.
Step-by-step route from boarding to escape
Separate the mobile fight against pursuers from the subsequent gunfight.
- Board the marked freighter and follow the corridors towards the lower hold. Check the second right-hand side passage for the revolver and the stairs for armour.
- Equip your prepared firearm before entering the combat area. After the short scene, identify crates, open floor and the nearest approaching enemies.
- Run away from the closest chainsaw attacker until there is room for a deliberate shot. Release an obstructive target lock rather than slowly backing away as the attacker closes.
- Turn briefly, select a nearby pursuer and fire the revolver or shotgun. Do not remain planted until the chainsaw reaches you.
- After defeating an enemy, switch targets deliberately. If others approach from the side, stop shooting and move through an open connection across the room.
- Repeat the run, short attack and relocation cycle as replacements arrive. Use crates to lengthen their approaches while preserving your own escape direction.
- If you need health, draw pursuers away from the nearest pickup and circle around them using clear floor. When few enemies remain and reinforcements subside, prepare for the next fight before firing the last shot.
- When Vincenzo appears, expect immediate fire from his Micro-SMG. Change from continuously running in the open to breaking his sightline behind a tall crate.
- Let him enter a useful firing angle. Step out briefly, knock him down with the shotgun and follow up with deliberate shots; with the revolver, use similarly short clear firing windows.
- After killing Vincenzo, follow the new exit objective. Retrace the stairs and corridors to the deck and leave the ship. Reaching the exit, rather than winning the duel alone, completes the assignment.
Choose a weapon for the situation
The revolver provides strong individual shots without requiring prolonged exposure. The shotgun suits close range, but you must fire before chainsaw contact. An SMG is also usable with sufficient ammunition; sustained shooting should not cost your escape route. Against Vincenzo, the tall crate matters particularly: his bullets reach at a distance, whereas the earlier enemies had to close in. Wait behind solid visual cover instead of spending your last health in an exposed race against his weapon. Do not assume a small box protects Toni’s upper body as reliably as the taller crates.
Diagnose a failed fight
A retry should improve your movement route rather than merely increase ammunition expenditure.
| Problem | Likely cause | Correction |
|---|---|---|
| Toni is pinned immediately. | You fired too close or ran into a corner. | Create distance before aiming and preserve a second clear movement route. |
| An attacker surprises you from the side. | Fixation on one target concealed incoming enemies. | Check the surroundings after short attacks and move earlier. |
| The health pickup seems unreachable. | Pursuers stand between Toni and the reserve. | Lead the group away before approaching rather than running through it. |
| Vincenzo kills you just after the scene. | You retained the chainsaw-fight tactic unchanged. | Use a tall crate to break sightlines and expose yourself for deliberate shots. |
| No success message appears after the duel. | You have not left the ship. | Follow the exit objective through the stairs and corridors. |
Questions, retries and edition limits
A specific kill count is a poor progress reference: guides count differently, while the mission transition gives a clear signal. Maximum stamina earned through side jobs is not compulsory either. If movement causes trouble, shorten aiming phases and use wider escape arcs on another attempt. Keep a prepared save in the original releases; do not assume a modern checkpoint directly before Vincenzo. Save once the complete mission ends. PSP and PS2 differ in target switching and camera handling. Mobile uses different inputs and may offer different retry options. This guide does not guarantee identical spawn spacing on every device. LCS is not part of the Definitive Edition trilogy and no native PC release is assumed here.
