Requirements and preparation
“Snuff” becomes available after “Dealing Revenge” at Vincenzo’s warehouse in Atlantic Quays, Portland. Begin with full health and keep a separate save at your hideout beforehand. A previously purchased shotgun or SMG is not required: Vincenzo pays for the pistol used in the tutorial. You must nevertheless collect it from the gun shop to advance the assignment. Use an ordinary car for the journey; there is no need to begin a pursuit or reach another island.
Understand the three combat areas
The target is at the rear of the Hepburn Heights construction site. The approach passes a guarded entrance and a narrower connecting passage. The entrance group, the enemies beside the red barrels and the heavy near the car represent separate threats. Sprint straight to the back and the first gunmen can continue firing behind you. Clear one section, check the next corner, then advance. With several targets available, prioritise the visible armed opponent. Free aim can be more useful for a barrel shot than target lock, which selects a person instead.
Step-by-step route
This approach uses the supplied pistol. Extra weapons can help but do not alter the phone trigger or the required vehicle section.
- Drive from Vincenzo’s warehouse to the marked Ammu-Nation in the Red Light District. Enter and stand in the sales marker.
- Select the pistol charged to Vincenzo and confirm the purchase. Leave without accidentally firing in the shop, then wait for the construction-site objective.
- Travel to the Hepburn Heights marker. Get out before the entrance and engage the first two Sindacco men from a clear position, prioritising the armed opponent.
- Once the entrance is safe, move through the connecting passage. Pause before the next open area rather than advancing around the corner with your attention already fixed on one target.
- Deal with the next group beside the red explosive barrels. You can aim at the barrels while keeping clear of their immediate surroundings. Shooting the men directly is the calmer alternative if you cannot judge the blast area.
- Follow the route around the next corner into the rear yard. The marked heavy stands behind or beside the Hellenbach GT. Use the corner to break his sightline and expose yourself only when you have a clear shot.
- Kill the heavy with your pistol, then approach the dropped phone. Collect it as proof; his death alone does not complete the whole combat sequence.
- Allow JD O’Toole’s call to finish. The next objective asks you to enter the heavy’s car. Take that Hellenbach GT rather than your previously parked vehicle.
- Leave the yard through the newly usable gate or exit towards the road. The nearby Pay ’n’ Spray is a short drive away; follow the new workshop objective instead of retracing the combat passage.
- Drive the Hellenbach into the workshop and let the respray finish. This visit is free. Wait for the success message before treating the vehicle as yours to use freely.
Take safe shots and preserve the car
A careful pistol approach is sufficient for this early mission. Collect dropped weapons after making each area safe instead of rushing towards ammunition under fire. Use solid wall edges to interrupt enemy sightlines; LCS does not provide the automatic cover system found in later GTA games. When shooting the heavy behind the Hellenbach, avoid spraying the vehicle indiscriminately. You need it for the final objective. An area attack directly beside the target car can turn a won gunfight into a failed delivery.
When progress appears to stop
Read the active objective before searching for extra enemies or leaving Portland. Each section has its own trigger.
| Problem | Check the cause | Next action |
|---|---|---|
| The site has not become the objective. | The pistol was viewed but not actually acquired. | Return to the sales marker and complete the free purchase. |
| You lose health immediately at the entrance. | Several enemies engaged together or the wrong target selected. | Stay outside the passage, prioritise the gunman and switch targets deliberately. |
| The heavy is dead but nothing finishes. | The phone remains uncollected or the call is unfinished. | Look beside the defeated target for the phone and let the dialogue complete. |
| The workshop section will not progress. | Wrong vehicle or destroyed target car. | Use the rear-yard Hellenbach; restart the assignment if that required car is lost. |
Retry, save and keep the Hellenbach
If the firefight goes wrong, first identify where you advanced too far. A prepared save avoids rebuilding a poor starting position after death or arrest. Do not depend on a modern checkpoint immediately before the heavy in the original PSP/PS2 releases. Once the respray successfully completes, you can keep the Hellenbach and store it in your garage. Save after the confirmed mission result: during the final drive it remains part of the objective. You do not need to take it back to Vincenzo after the instructed workshop visit.
PSP, PS2, mobile and quick questions
The objective order describes the original PSP/PS2 missions and provides a route reference on mobile. Lock-on, free aim and weapon switching use different inputs; even the PSP manual distinguishes control schemes. Use your edition’s layout. Do you need your own money for the pistol or this respray? Both are covered here. Can you simply drive away after killing the heavy? Collecting the phone and completing JD’s call first activates the car section. Liberty City Stories is not part of the Definitive Edition trilogy, and this guide does not assume a native PC release.
